Dave, Tim, Nick and Stephen went on a Canoe Fishing trip and were wildly successful. The sole purpose of the trip was to relax and fish. Having this in mind, we didn't want to travel too far, and we did not want a lot of portaging.
Dave and I drove up on a Tuesday and paddled east on Naiscoot Lake to the first campsite on the north shore. We spent two nights there, having paddled our canoe and towing the second canoe - both full of gear. We had to setup for Tim and Nick when they arrived. They like that kind of housekeeping at their favoured hotels. Thursday, we solo paddled back to the put in, and drove to Pointe au Baril Station to meet them at Larry's Tavern - (705) 366-2396, Hwy 69, Pointe-Au-Baril-Station, Ontario. We then all paddled back to the campsite and spent Thursday night there. Friday morning we paddled east, portaged to Evans Lake, portaged again to an unknown lake, did two beaver dam pull overs to the south end of Lone Tree Lake. At the south end, there is a lovely marsh with floating bogs and lilly pads everywhere else. There is a small channel to the south end of the lake, with a terrific campsite. This site never gets any direct sunlight, but still has the breeze whipping through. I prefer to stay in the shade and shade it was for us. It turns out that it was also an excellent spot for fishing. You will see some of the success in the pictures below. I have not bothered to add text to each picture - you can figure out what it is.
