A gang of us paddled the Spanish River on a trip headed by Stephen's Dad Gordon of Canada South Outdoors.  Their website can be visited at www.canadasouthoutdoors.ca . The water leels were high and we ran everything that could be run.  Read more and see the images.

Overall, the trip was terrific.  We had a great bunch of folks all with
their own unique personalities and abilities.  The weather was amazing,
even though we had rain every day.  We were prepared for rain so it
didn't much matter.  I was pleased that I managed to keep my boots
dry on the inside the whole trip.  I suppose I owe it to others for
jumping in the water with their boots on when need be, but I may
never admit that.

July 11th sitting around the campfire.  From left to right are Bob,
Liane, Graham, Karen and me-Stephen.  Absent are Gordon and
Emmy.  Where are they?  I'm sure they were doing some compass
and map reading things down by the water.

July 10th - Bob.  Notice how white his shirt is.  Bob has style.  He
dressed for dinner every day in nice clean attire.  Some thought he
was dressing for a board meeting, that was the joke that went around.
Kudos to you Bob.  Not many have nice white camping clothes.

Here's Bob again.  He had a cool hat, and clean clothes!

I like an image with all the canoes.  Here are three that I picked
out from the ones I took.  Maybe one day they will make nice postcards
or something.

July 10th - Emmy and Gordon doing a map reading exercise.  At the time
of this photo, and for a few years prior, Gordon was the President of the
Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association
.  He is also
an instructor in several disciplines.  He is part owner of Canada South Outdoors,
mentioned earlier.  He's a good teacher.

July 9th - Emmy and Graham resting.  No story here I suppose.

July 8th - Emmy and Stephen paddling away.  We were probably chatting
along the way.

We had some spectacular evenings.  I was having fun with my camera as
you can see below.

July 8th - Gordon sporting his high tech rubber rain gear, brand new 1940.

July 10th - Gordon out for an evening solo paddle.  He probably needed
some time away from all the shenanigans and goings-on.  I think most
of us were class clowns, most of the time.  Well, at least I can speak for myself.

July 9th - Gordon and Liane paddling, then Graham paddling.

July 8th - Karen posing and sporting a lovely bug shirt, gucci I think.  Then
Karen again July 10th paddling.

July 8th and July 13th - first Liane and Gordon paddling, then having a
well earned rest.

July 9th - Some clowning around.  Here is Liane, Gordon and Shawn.

July 13th - Shawn, Liane and Bob with Graham in the background.  Let's
see now, it is see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.  I doubt that is
true for any of them.  That may explain Graham's laughter behind them.

July 12th at some very interesting rapids.  No, we didn't all run this one.
Last year when Shawn was here, there was a canoe wrapped around a rock
at the bottom.  I guess the ice finally dislodged it.  Here are a series of
pictures from the bumpy water on the Spanish.

July 12th - I love sky images.  I don't include many of them as they start
to look the same to many people, at least after 20 or 30 of them.  I like
these two and hey - I decide what goes up on this website after all.

July 9th had a great sunset.  Actually most days did.

July 10th - We camped at a site that was a bit tight.  It's not very often
you have to line up all your tents in a row.  Let me tell you that you find
out very quickly who snores at night when you are all this close.

July 14th - Take Out Day.  We stopped for lunch and finally remembered
to take a full group pose.  From left to right are: Shawn, Emmy, Graham,
Karen, Gordon, Bob, Liane and me - Stephen.

Happy Paddling everyone!
